“Be careful not to practice your righteousness   in front of others to be seen by them. Otherwise, you have no reward with your Father in heaven.

They do everything   to be seen by others: They enlarge their phylacteries   and lengthen their tassels.   ,

For they loved human praise  more than praise from God.

For God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love  you demonstrated for his name by serving the saints #— #and by continuing to serve them.

And he told them, “You are the ones who justify   yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts.   For what is highly admired by people is revolting   in God’s sight.

Those who want to make a good impression in the flesh  are the ones who would compel you to be circumcised   #— #but only to avoid being persecuted  for the cross  of Christ.

How can you believe, since you accept glory from one another but don’t seek the glory that comes from the only   God?

So my people come to you in crowds,  sit in front of you, and hear your words, but they don’t obey them. Their mouths go on passionately, but their hearts pursue dishonest profit.

Watch yourselves so that you don’t lose what we  have worked for, but that you may receive a full reward.

Then  he gave them strict orders: “Watch out! Beware of the leaven   , of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”

“Whenever you fast, don’t be gloomy like the hypocrites. For they disfigure their faces   so that their fasting is obvious to people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward.

Then Jesus told them, “Watch out and beware of the leaven   of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

He then told them, “Watch out and be on guard   against all greed,   because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.”

Be perfect,   therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

Take care, then, that the light in you is not darkness.

Meanwhile, a crowd of many thousands came together, so that they were trampling  on one another. He began to say to his disciples first,  “Be on your guard   against the leaven   , of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

“And the King will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

For if you love those who love you, what reward will you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?

“Ask all the people of the land and the priests: When you fasted and lamented in the fifth and in the seventh months for these seventy years, did you really fast for me?

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you don’t go in, and you don’t allow those entering to go in.   ,

“Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy.

Be sure to return it  to him at sunset. Then he will sleep in it and bless you, and this will be counted as righteousness to you before the Lord your God.

For this reason, we must pay attention all the more to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away.

Therefore, may my advice seem good to you my king. Separate yourself from your sins by doing what is right,  and from your injustices by showing mercy to the needy.  Perhaps there will be an extension of your prosperity.”

For he considered reproach for the sake of Christ to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, since he was looking ahead to the reward.

For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father,   and then he will reward each according to what he has done.

Yet Jehu was not careful to follow the instruction of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart. He did not turn from the sins that Jeroboam had caused Israel to commit.

Then he said, “Come with me and see my zeal  for the Lord! ” So he let him ride with him in his chariot.

On that day every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies; they will not put on a hairy cloak  in order to deceive.

When Peter saw this, he addressed the people: “Fellow Israelites, why are you amazed at this? Why do you stare at us, as though we had made him walk by our own power or godliness?
