John came baptizing  , in the wilderness  and proclaiming a baptism of repentance  for the forgiveness  of sins.

For I will pour water on the thirsty land and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit  on your descendants and my blessing on your offspring.

He went into all the vicinity of the Jordan,  proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,

As they were traveling down the road, they came to some water. The eunuch said, “Look, there’s water. What would keep me from being baptized? ”

So he ordered the chariot to stop, and both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.
