When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that a riot was starting instead, he took some water, washed his hands in front of the crowd, and said, “I am innocent of this man’s blood.  See to it yourselves! ”

Many plans are in a person’s heart, but the  Lord’s decree will prevail.

Then  they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the governor’s headquarters.  It was early morning. They did not enter the headquarters themselves; otherwise they would be defiled and unable to eat the Passover.

Who is there who speaks and it happens, unless the Lord has ordained it?

So the city was filled with confusion, and they rushed all together into the amphitheater, dragging along Gaius  and Aristarchus,  Macedonians who were Paul’s traveling companions.

Aren’t you the Egyptian who started a revolt some time ago and led four thousand men of the Assassins into the wilderness? ”
