stay in this land as an alien, and I will be with you and bless you.  For I will give all these lands to you and your offspring,  and I will confirm the oath that I swore to your father Abraham.

Look, I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go. I will bring you back to this land,  for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

From there Abraham traveled to the region of the Negev and settled between Kadesh and Shur. While he was staying in Gerar,

On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “I give this land to your offspring,  from the Brook of Egypt  to the great river, the Euphrates River:

Get up and walk around the land, through its length and width, for I will give it to you.”

for I will give you and your offspring  forever all the land that you see.

The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring  , I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him.

By faith he stayed as a foreigner in the land of promise, living in tents as did Isaac and Jacob, coheirs of the same promise.

Do what you have learned and received  and heard from me, and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east, and gather you from the west.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, and the flame will not burn you.

But the Lord was with Joseph and extended kindness to him.  He granted him favor with the prison warden.

The Lord was with Joseph,  and he became a successful man, serving  in the household of his Egyptian master.

He had flocks of sheep, herds of cattle, and many slaves, and the Philistines were envious of him.

Isaac sowed seed in that land, and in that year he reaped  a hundred times what was sown. The Lord blessed him,

Because God wanted to show his unchangeable purpose even more clearly to the heirs of the promise, he guaranteed it with an oath,

You will show loyalty to Jacob and faithful love to Abraham, as you swore to our ancestors from days long ago.

After Abraham’s death, God blessed his son Isaac, who lived near Beer-lahai-roi.

and the Lord appeared to him that night and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham.  Do not be afraid, for I am with you.  I will bless you and multiply your offspring because of my servant Abraham.”

The Lord was standing there beside him,  saying, “I am the Lord,  the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your offspring the land on which you are lying.

The Lord said to him, “Go back to the land of your ancestors and to your family, and I will be with you.”

I will give to you the land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac.  And I will give the land to your future descendants.”

Israel said to Joseph, “Look, I am about to die, but God will be with you and will bring you back to the land of your fathers.

Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die,  but God will certainly come to your aid and bring you up from this land to the land he swore to give to Abraham,  Isaac,  and Jacob.”

I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land they lived in as aliens.

I will bring you to the land that I swore  , to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.”

See, I have set the land before you. Enter and take possession of the land  the Lord swore to give to your ancestors  Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and their future descendants.’

The Lord then said to him, “This is the land I promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’  I have let you see it with your own eyes, but you will not cross into it.”

the covenant he made with Abraham, swore  to Isaac,

But God said, “No. Your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will name him Isaac.  I will confirm my covenant with him as a permanent covenant for his future offspring.

God heard their groaning, and God remembered  his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

He answered, “I will certainly be with you,  and this will be the sign to you that I am the one who sent you: when you bring the people out of Egypt, you will all worship  God at this mountain.”

I will take you as my people,  and I will be your God. You will know  that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from the forced labor of the Egyptians.

God is not a man, that he might lie, or a son of man, that he might change his mind. Does he speak and not act, or promise and not fulfill?
