he said: “Listen to what I say: If there is a prophet among you from the Lord, I make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream.
Indeed, the Lord God does nothing without revealing his counsel to his servants the prophets.
So Nathan told the king, “Go and do all that is on your mind, for the Lord is with you.”
“Go to my servant David and say, ‘This is what the Lord says: Are you to build me a house to dwell in?
So the Lord sent Nathan to David. When he arrived, he said to him: There were two men in a certain city, one rich and the other poor.
“Since the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city to build a temple in among any of the tribes of Israel, so that my name would be there. But I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.”
