knowing that one who is like this has been subverted, and that he offends; for he has been condemned by his own judgment.

He said to him: 'By your own mouth, do I judge you, O wicked servant. You knew that I am an austere man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow.

But the Pharisees and the experts in the law despised the counsel of God concerning themselves, by not being baptized by him.

Whoever believes in him is not judged. But whoever does not believe is already judged, because he does not believe in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.

Then Paul and Barnabas said firmly: "It was necessary to speak the Word of God first to you. But because you reject it, and so judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

Since we have heard that some, going out from among us, have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, to whom we gave no commandment,

For he was afraid, lest perhaps the Jews might seize him and kill him, and that afterwards he would be falsely accused, as if he had accepted a bribe. And so he wrote a letter containing the following:

But we know that whatever the law speaks, it speaks to those who are in the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the entire world may be subject to God.

Insist on these things, testifying before the Lord. Do not be contentious about words, for this is useful for nothing but the subversion of listeners.

These must be reproved, for they subvert entire houses, teaching things which should not be taught, for the favor of shameful gain.

not paying attention to Jewish fables, nor to the rules of men who have turned themselves away from the truth.

For if we sin willingly, after receiving knowledge of the truth, there is no sacrifice remaining for sins,
