And he called his name Noah, saying, "This one will console us from the works and hardships of our hands, in the land that the Lord has cursed."

Blessed is the man whose hope is in the name of the Lord, and who has no respect for vanities and absurd falsehoods.

They have squandered it, and it has grieved concerning me. The entire earth has become utterly desolate, because there is no one who understands with the heart."

How long shall the earth mourn? And how long shall the plants of every field whither because of the wickedness of the inhabitants within them? It has consumed the wild animals and the birds. For they said: "He will not see our very end."

Because of this, the land will mourn, and all who dwell in it will languish, with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air. And the fishes of the sea also will be gathered together.

Why have the animals groaned, the herds of cattle bellowed? because there is no pasture for them. Yes, and even the flocks of sheep have been lost.

For we know that every creature groans inwardly, as if giving birth, even until now;

For we have been saved by hope. But a hope which is seen is not hope. For when a man sees something, why would he hope?
