Proverbs 9:7

Whoever teaches a mocker causes injury to himself. And whoever argues with the impious produces a blemish on himself.

And Ahab said to Elijah, "Have you discovered me to be your enemy?" And he said: "I have discovered you to have been sold, so that you would do evil in the sight of the Lord:

Then Zedekiah, the son of Chenaanah, drew near and struck Micaiah on the jaw, and he said, "So then, has the Spirit of the Lord left me, and spoken to you?"

And tell them: 'Thus says the king: Put this man in prison, and sustain him with the bread of affliction, and with the water of distress, until I return in peace.' "

But they ridiculed the messengers of God, and they gave little weight to his words, and they mocked the prophets, until the fury of the Lord ascended against his people, and there was no remedy.

Blessed is the man whom God corrects; therefore, do not reject the chastisement of the Lord.

A wise son is the doctrine of his father. But he who ridicules does not listen when he is reproved.

He who corrupts himself does not love the one who afflicts him, nor will he step toward the wise.

Do not speak into the ears of the unwise. They will despise the doctrine of your eloquence.

And they remained silent and did not answer a word to him. For the king had commanded them, saying, "You shall not respond to him."
