But they said to him, "We can." Then Jesus said to them: "Indeed, you shall drink from the chalice, from which I drink; and you shall be baptized with the baptism, with which I am to be baptized.

And he went and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter: "Simon, are you sleeping? Were you not able to be vigilant for one hour?

Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say? Father, save me from this hour? But it is for this reason that I came to this hour.

Therefore, Jesus said to Peter: "Set your sword into the scabbard. Should I not drink the chalice which my Father has given to me?"

Jesus said to them: "My food is to do the will of the One who sent me, so that I may perfect his work.

I am not able to do anything of myself. As I hear, so do I judge. And my judgment is just. For I do not seek my own will, but the will of him who sent me.

Therefore, because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying out: "Abba, Father."

He humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, even the death of the Cross.

If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful: he is not able to deny himself.

in the hope of the eternal life that God, who does not lie, promised before the ages of time,

so that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have the strongest solace: we who have fled together so as to hold fast to the hope set before us.
