Whoever fears man will quickly fall. Whoever hopes in the Lord shall be lifted up.

Listen to me, you who know what is just, my people who have my law in their heart. Do not be afraid of disgrace among men, and do not dread their blasphemies.

For whose sake have you been anxiously afraid, so that you would lie and not be mindful of me, nor consider me in your heart? For I am silent, and I am like someone who does not see, and so you have forgotten me.

Listen to the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word. Your brothers, who hate you and who cast you out because of my name, have said: "Let the Lord be glorified, and we will see by your rejoicing." But they themselves will be confounded.

And king Zedekiah said to Jeremiah: "I am anxious, because of the Jews who have crossed over to the Chaldeans, lest perhaps I may be delivered into their hands, and they may abuse me."

Therefore, everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father, who is in heaven.

But I say to you: Everyone who will have confessed me before men, the Son of man will also confess him before the Angels of God.

And Pilate, calling together the leaders of the priests, and the magistrates, and the people,

Blessed shall you be when men will have hated you, and when they will have separated you and reproached you, and thrown out your name as if evil, because of the Son of man.

Therefore, many of the Jews, who had come to Mary and Martha, and who had seen the things that Jesus did, believed in him.

For many of the Jews, because of him, were going away and were believing in Jesus.

They will put you out of the synagogues. But the hour is coming when everyone who puts you to death will consider that he is offering an excellent service to God.

Then, after these things, Joseph from Arimathea, (because he was a disciple of Jesus, but a secret one for fear of the Jews) petitioned Pilate so that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate gave permission. Therefore, he went and took away the body of Jesus.

He went to Jesus at night, and he said to him: "Rabbi, we know that you have arrived as a teacher from God. For no one would be able to accomplish these signs, which you accomplish, unless God were with him."

Yet no one was speaking openly about him, out of fear of the Jews.

But many among the crowd believed in him, and they were saying, "When the Christ arrives, will he perform more signs than this man does?"

His parents said these things because they were afraid of the Jews. For the Jews had already conspired, so that if anyone were to confess him to be the Christ, he would be expelled from the synagogue.

They responded and said to him, "You were born entirely in sins, and you would teach us?" And they cast him out.

And indeed, they went forth from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were considered worthy to suffer insult on behalf of the name of Jesus.

For with the heart, we believe unto justice; but with the mouth, confession is unto salvation.

Whoever has confessed that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

The Spirit of God may be known in this way. Every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ has arrived in the flesh is of God;
