Within his hands, he hides the light, and he commands it to come forth again.
He holds back the face of his throne, and he stretches his cloud over it.
Crops desire clouds, and the clouds scatter their light.
It shines all around, wherever the will of him that governs them will lead, to anywhere he will command, over the whole face of the earth,
Do you know when God ordered the rains, so as to show the light of his clouds?
Can you send forth lightning bolts, and will they go, and on returning, say to you: "Here we are?"
He made the great lights, for his mercy is eternal:
fire, hail, snow, ice, windstorms, which do his word,
desirable beyond gold and many precious stones, and sweeter than honey and the honeycomb.
And the eloquence of my mouth will be so as to please, along with the meditation of my heart, in your sight, forever, O Lord, my helper and my redeemer.
Then, when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no end to the storm was imminent, all hope for our safety was now taken away.
