I go about in dark clothing, uncomforted; I get up in the public place, crying out for help.

My flesh is covered with worms and dust; my skin gets hard and then is cracked again.

Foolish men, because of their sins, and because of their wrongdoing, are troubled;

The Lord is the support of all who are crushed, and the lifter up of all who are bent down.

My life goes on in sorrow, and my years in weeping; my strength is almost gone because of my sin, and my bones are wasted away.

My behaviour was as if it had been my friend or my brother: I was bent low in grief like one whose mother is dead.

Why are you crushed down, O my soul? and why are you troubled in me? put your hope in God; for I will again give him praise who is my help and my God.

I will say to God my Rock, Why have you let me go from your memory? why do I go in sorrow because of the attacks of my haters?

You are the God of my strength; why have you put me from you? why do I go in sorrow because of the attacks of my haters?

They have made ready a net for my steps; my soul is bent down; they have made a great hole before me, and have gone down into it themselves. Selah.

The voice of my sorrow is a weariness to me; all the night I make my bed wet with weeping; it is watered by the drops flowing from my eyes.

My eyes are wasting away because of my trouble: Lord, my cry has gone up to you every day, my hands are stretched out to you.

I make cries like a bird; I give out sounds of grief like a dove: my eyes are looking up with desire; O Lord, I am crushed, take up my cause.
