Will he make prayers to you, or say soft words to you?
Will you put a cord into his nose, or take him away with a cord round his tongue?
Will he make an agreement with you, so that you may take him as a servant for ever?

The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, but they were sharp swords.

By a soft answer wrath is turned away, but a bitter word is a cause of angry feelings.
The poor man makes requests for grace, but the man of wealth gives a rough answer.
A judge is moved by one who for a long time undergoes wrongs without protest, and by a soft tongue even bone is broken.
Who say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Do not give us word of what is true, but say false things to give us pleasure:
