For the Son of man did not come to be served [by others] but to be the servant [of others], and to sacrifice His life as a ransom price for many people [i.e., to purchase them back from Satan].”
So, He sat down and called the twelve apostles and said to them, “If anyone [of you] should [try to] be first [in importance] he will [end up] being last, and become the servant of all [the others].”
Instead, He gave up what He had and took on the form [i.e., the nature] of a slave, becoming like a man, [and even] His appearance was found to be like a man’s.
