[But] if we confess our sins [to God], He is faithful [to His promise] and righteous [in His judgment], and will forgive us of those sins and cleanse us from all of our wrongdoing.
Therefore, you people [must] repent [i.e., change your hearts and lives] and turn [back] again [to God] so that your sins will be blotted out and so that you may enjoy times of [spiritual] refreshment from the presence of the Lord [i.e., through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit].
Now Simon Peter had been standing and warming himself [by the outdoor charcoal fire]. So, someone asked him, “Are you not one of His disciples, too?” Peter denied it, saying, “[No], I am not.”
But that person who disowns me in front of people [i.e., denies that I am the Christ, or that he is a disciple. See John 18:15-17, 25-27], will be disowned in front of God’s angels.
But whoever disowns me in front of people [i.e., denies that I am the Christ, or that he is a disciple. See John 18:15- 17, 25-27], I will disown him in front of my Father in heaven.
