Finally, the other disciple, who had arrived at the cave-like tomb first, went on into it. And [when] he saw [the grave clothes, but no body], he believed [in Jesus’ resurrection].
So, the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he replied to them, “I will not believe [it] unless I see the scars of the nails in His hands, and put my finger on the nail scars, and put my hand in His side.”
Jesus said to him, “Do you believe [in me just] because I told you, ‘I saw you under that fig tree’? You will see [even] greater things than these [happen].”
And Abraham replied, ‘If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded [even] if someone rises from the dead [i.e., to come back and warn them].’”
