“The bows of the mighty are broken, But those who have stumbled equip themselves with strength.

For You have encircled me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.

The sword [of the ungodly] will enter their own heart, And their bow will be broken.

For the arms of the wicked will be broken, But the Lord upholds and sustains the righteous [who seek Him].

“Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth.”

He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow into pieces and snaps the spear in two; He burns the chariots with fire.

There He broke the flaming arrows, The shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah.

Nothing remains but to crouch among the captives Or fall [dead] among the slain [on the battlefield]. In spite of all this, God’s anger does not turn away, But His hand is still stretched out [in judgment].

He gives strength to the weary, And to him who has no might He increases power. [2 Cor 12:9]

For even if you had defeated the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and there remained only the wounded men among them, yet they would rise up, every man confined in his tent, and burn down this city with fire.’ ”

For the destroyer is coming against her, against Babylon; And her mighty warriors will be captured, Their bows are shattered; For the Lord is a God of [just] restitution; He will fully repay.

but He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me.

So stand firm and hold your ground, having tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart), [Is 11:5]

I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]

And what more shall I say? For time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, [Judg 4; 5; 6-8; 11; 12; 13-16; 1 Sam 1-30; 2 Sam 1-24; 1 Kin 1; 2; Acts 3:24]

extinguished the power of [raging] fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became mighty and unbeatable in battle, putting enemy forces to flight. [Dan 3]
