Amplified Bible

Hannah prayed and said, “My heart rejoices and triumphs in the Lord; My horn (strength) is lifted up in the Lord, My mouth has opened wide [to speak boldly] against my enemies, Because I rejoice in Your salvation.

Then they returned to Jerusalem with joy, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, led by Jehoshaphat, for the Lord had made them rejoice over their enemies.

Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, who was the leader to begin the thanksgiving in prayer, and Bakbukiah, second among his brothers; and Abda the son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.

“I have sewed sackcloth over my skin [as a sign of mourning] And have defiled my horn (symbol of strength) in the dust.

The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.

¶But I have trusted and relied on and been confident in Your lovingkindness and faithfulness; My heart shall rejoice and delight in Your salvation.

He has lifted up a horn for His people [giving them strength, prosperity, dignity, and preeminence], Praise for all His godly ones; For the people of Israel, a people near to Him. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!) [Ps 75:10; Eph 2:17]

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and the One who rescues me; My God, my rock and strength in whom I trust and take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower—my stronghold. [Heb 2:13]

We will sing joyously over your victory, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May the Lord fulfill all your petitions.

You have given him his heart’s desire, And You have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.

¶Then my soul shall rejoice in the Lord; It shall rejoice in His salvation.

O Lord, open my lips, That my mouth may declare Your praise.

My mouth is filled with Your praise And with Your glory all day long.

All the horns of the wicked He will cut off, But the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.

For You are the glory of their strength [their proud adornment], And by Your favor our horn is exalted.

For our shield belongs to the Lord, And our king to the Holy One of Israel.

“My faithfulness and My steadfast lovingkindness shall be with him, And in My name shall his horn be exalted [great power and prosperity shall be conferred upon him].

That I may tell aloud all Your praises, That in the gates of the daughter of Zion (Jerusalem) I may rejoice in Your salvation and Your help.

¶But my horn [my emblem of strength and power] You have exalted like that of a wild ox; I am anointed with fresh oil [for Your service].

Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, singing, “I will sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously; The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea.

Miriam answered them, “Sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously and is highly exalted; The horse and its rider He has hurled into the sea.”

A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, set to wild and enthusiastic music.

Yet I will [choose to] rejoice in the Lord; I will [choose to] shout in exultation in the [victorious] God of my salvation! [Rom 8:37]

And He has raised up a horn of salvation [a mighty and valiant Savior] for us In the house of David His servant—

Not only that, but we also rejoice in God [rejoicing in His love and perfection] through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received and enjoy our reconciliation [with God]. [Jer 9:24]

“His majesty is like a firstborn young bull, And his horns like the horns of the wild ox; With them he will gore the peoples, All of them together, to the ends of the earth. And those are the ten thousands of Ephraim, And those are the thousands of Manasseh.”

for we [who are born-again have been reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, set apart for His purpose and] are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory and take pride and exult in Christ Jesus and place no confidence [in what we have or who we are] in the flesh—

Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, take pleasure in Him]; again I will say, rejoice! [Ps 37:4]

Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.

Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and though you do not even see Him now, you believe and trust in Him and you greatly rejoice and delight with inexpressible and glorious joy,

Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints (God’s people) and apostles and prophets [who were martyred], because God has executed vengeance for you [through righteous judgment] upon her.” [Is 44:23; Jer 51:48, 49]

Hannah’s rival provoked her bitterly, to irritate and embarrass her, because the Lord had left her childless.

So it happened year after year, whenever she went up to the house of the Lord, Peninnah provoked her; so she wept and would not eat.
