Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; sing praises to Him with the harp of ten strings.

Raise a song, sound the timbrel, the sweet lyre with the harp.

The mirth of the timbrels is stilled, the noise of those who rejoice ends, the joy of the lyre is stopped.

And I will cause the noise of your songs to cease, and the sound of your lyres shall be no more heard.

And I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation, and I will cause sackcloth to be put upon all loins and baldness [for mourning] shall come on every head; and I will make that time as the mourning for an only son, and the end of it as a bitter day.

And the sound of harpists and minstrels and flute players and trumpeters shall never again be heard in you, and no skilled artisan of any craft shall ever again be found in you, and the sound of the millstone shall never again be heard in you. [Isa. 24:8; Ezek. 26:13.]
