Numbers 33:3

They set out from Rameses on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the day after the Passover the Israelites went out [of Egypt] with a high hand and triumphantly in the sight of all the Egyptians,

Joseph settled his father and brethren and gave them a possession in Egypt in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses (Goshen), as Pharaoh commanded.

Egypt was glad when they departed, for the fear of them had fallen upon the people. [Exod. 12:33.]

So they set over [the Israelites] taskmasters to afflict and oppress them with [increased] burdens. And [the Israelites] built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh.

This month shall be to you the beginning of months, the first month of the year to you.

The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about 600,000 men on foot, besides women and children.

This day you go forth in the month Abib.
