ONE SABBATH while Jesus was passing through the fields of standing grain, it occurred that His disciples picked some of the spikes and ate [of the grain], rubbing it out in their hands. [Deut. 23:25.]

[In celebration of the Passover in future years] seven days shall you eat unleavened bread; even the first day you shall put away leaven [symbolic of corruption] out of your houses; for whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel.

And you shall count from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, seven Sabbaths; [seven full weeks] shall they be.

On the first day you shall have a holy "calling together;" you shall do no servile or laborious work on that day.

And no one after drinking old wine immediately desires new wine, for he says, The old is good or better.

And it occurred on another Sabbath that when He went into the synagogue and taught, a man was present whose right hand was withered.

You shall count seven weeks; begin to number the seven weeks from the time you begin to put the sickle to the standing grain.

When you come into the standing grain of your neighbor, you may pluck the ears with your hand, but you shall not put a sickle to your neighbor's standing grain.
