Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha [witness heap, in Aramaic ], but Jacob called it Galeed [witness heap, in Hebrew. ]

Laban said, This heap is a witness today between you and me. Therefore it was named Galeed.

When all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and they said, The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!

In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border.

And Joshua said to all the people, See, this stone shall be a witness against us, for it has heard all the words the Lord spoke to us; so it shall be a witness against you, lest [afterward] you lie (pretend) and deny your God.
