Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.
And Jesus said to him, Truly I tell you, this very night, before a cock crows twice, you will utterly deny Me [disclaiming all connection with Me] three times.
But one of the bystanders drew his sword and struck the bond servant of the high priest and cut off his ear.
And [Simon Peter] said to Him, Lord, I am ready to go with You both to prison and to death.
One of the high priest's servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter cut off, said, Did I not see you in the garden with Him?
