IT WAS evening when the two angels came to Sodom. Lot was sitting at Sodom's [city] gate. Seeing them, Lot rose up to meet them and bowed to the ground.

And Abraham stood up and bowed himself to the people of the land, the Hittites.

Regard (treat with honor, due obedience, and courtesy) your father and mother, that your days may be long in the land the Lord your God gives you.

And Moses made haste to bow his head toward the earth and worshiped.

Her children rise up and call her blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied); and her husband boasts of and praises her, [saying],

Each of you shall give due respect to his mother and his father, and keep My Sabbaths holy. I the Lord am your God.

You shall rise up before the hoary head and honor the face of the old man and [reverently] fear your God. I am the Lord.

CHILDREN, OBEY your parents in the Lord [as His representatives], for this is just and right.
