And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, {\i even} in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

I will worship toward thy holy temple,\par\tab And give thanks unto thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth:\par\tab For thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, {\i and} the lovingkindness to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.\par

For Jehovah is good; his lovingkindness {\i endureth} for ever,\par\tab And his faithfulness unto all generations.\par

He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in him: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he hath not believed in the witness that God hath borne concerning his Son.

I do not make void the grace of God: for if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nought.\par

What then? shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? God forbid.

Do we then make the law of none effect through faith? God forbid: nay, we establish the law.\par

The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a gluttonous man and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! And wisdom is justified by her works.}\par

Wilt thou even annul my judgment?\par\tab Wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be justified?

But far be it from me to glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world hath been crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

I say then, Did God cast off his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie:\par\tab In the balances they will go up;\par\tab They are together lighter than vanity.

But as God is faithful, our word toward you is not yea and nay.

I say then, Did they stumble that they might fall? God forbid: but by their fall salvation {\i is come} unto the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy.

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Howbeit, I had not known sin, except through the law: for I had not known coveting, except the law had said, {\b Thou shalt not covet}:

God forbid. We who died to sin, how shall we any longer live therein?

He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.} And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.

Did then that which is good become death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, by working death to me through that which is good;—that through the commandment sin might become exceeding sinful.

Know ye not that your bodies are members of Christ? shall I then take away the members of Christ, and make them members of a harlot? God forbid.

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness; He who was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the spirit, Seen of angels, Preached among the nations, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.\par
