Lord, where are thy former lovingkindnesses,\par\tab Which thou swarest unto David in thy faithfulness?
but my lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.
(for they indeed have been made priests without an oath; but he with an oath by him that saith of him,\par\tab {\b The Lord sware and will not repent himself,\par\tab Thou art a priest for ever});
Incline your ear, and come unto me; hear, and your soul shall live: and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
Once have I sworn by my holiness:\par\tab I will not lie unto David:
He will requite the evil unto mine enemies:\par\tab Destroy thou them in thy truth.
God do so to Abner, and more also, if, as Jehovah hath sworn to David, I do not even so to him;
(For the redemption of their life is costly,\par\tab And it faileth for ever),
For he shall see it.\par\tab Wise men die;\par\tab The fool and the brutish alike perish,\par\tab And leave their wealth to others.
