Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of Jehovah; awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Is it not thou that didst cut Rahab in pieces, that didst pierce the monster?

Hast thou not heard how I have done it long ago, and formed it of ancient times? now have I brought it to pass, that it should be thine to lay waste fortified cities into ruinous heaps.

They come from a far country, from the uttermost part of heaven, even Jehovah, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.\par

Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? shall the saw magnify itself against him that wieldeth it? as if a rod should wield them that lift it up, {\i or} as if a staff should lift up {\i him that is} not wood.

Ho Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, the staff in whose hand is mine indignation!

It is time for Jehovah to work;\par\tab {\i For} they have made void thy law.

Arise, O Jehovah; O God, lift up thy hand:\par\tab Forget not the poor.

Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers?\par\tab Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
