Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for {\b God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.}

With my whole heart have I sought thee:\par\tab Oh let me not wander from thy commandments.

Thou hast set at nought all them that err from thy statutes;\par\tab For their deceit is falsehood.

The wicked have laid a snare for me;\par\tab Yet have I not gone astray from thy precepts.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed;

But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of Jehovah thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day, that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore {\i the scripture} saith, {\b God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.}

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us; for it is written, {\b Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree}:

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.\par

As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of Jehovah, we will not hearken unto thee.

Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary; and I will make Jacob a curse, and Israel a reviling.\par

Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not Jehovah? he against whom we have sinned, and in whose ways they would not walk, neither were they obedient unto his law.

Wherefore it shall come to pass, that, when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

For though Jehovah is high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly;\par\tab But the haughty he knoweth from afar.

Let the proud be put to shame; for they have overthrown me wrongfully: {\i But} I will meditate on thy precepts.

and testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law. Yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thine ordinances, (which if a man do, he shall live in them,) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.

But they and our fathers dealt proudly and hardened their neck, and hearkened not to thy commandments,

Now I know that Jehovah is greater than all gods; yea, in the thing wherein they dealt proudly against them.

And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.
