And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me, to make me odious to the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and, I being few in number, they will gather themselves together against me and smite me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.
By faith he became a sojourner in the land of promise, as in a {\i land} not his own, dwelling in tents, with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
And thou shalt answer and say before Jehovah thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father; and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there, few in number; and he became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous.
wherefore also there sprang of one, and him as good as dead, {\i so many} {\b as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand, which is by the sea-shore, innumerable.}\par
and he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: and he promised that {\b he would give it to him in possession, and to his seed after him,} when {\i as yet} he had no child.
And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.
