The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter;\par\tab Therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.

He also that is slack in his work\par\tab Is brother to him that is a destroyer.

How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard?\par\tab When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

that ye be not sluggish, but imitators of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.\par

The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing;\par\tab But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes,\par\tab So is the sluggard to them that send him.

The sluggard burieth his hand in the dish,\par\tab And will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

Behold the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much more value than they?

The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns;\par\tab But the path of the upright is made a highway.

For in vain is the net spread\par\tab In the sight of any bird:

The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib; {\i but} Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.

Hear thou, my son, and be wise,\par\tab And guide thy heart in the way.

There are four things which are little upon the earth,\par\tab But they are exceeding wise:

Yea, the stork in the heavens knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle-dove and the swallow and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the law of Jehovah.\par

He becometh poor that worketh with a slack hand;\par\tab But the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
