Hear this, O ye priests, and hearken, O house of Israel, and give ear, O house of the king; for unto you pertaineth the judgment; for ye have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.

They speak falsehood every one with his neighbor:\par\tab With flattering lip, and with a double heart, do they speak.

For there is no faithfulness in their mouth;\par\tab Their inward part is very wickedness;\par\tab Their throat is an open sepulchre;\par\tab They flatter with their tongue.

He that denounceth his friends for a prey,\par\tab Even the eyes of his children shall fail.\par

He that goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets;\par\tab Therefore company not with him that openeth wide his lips.

With her much fair speech she causeth him to yield;\par\tab With the flattering of her lips she forceth him along.

That they may keep thee from the strange woman,\par\tab From the foreigner that flattereth with her words.

For in vain is the net spread\par\tab In the sight of any bird:

For he flattereth himself in his own eyes,\par\tab That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.

He that rebuketh a man shall afterward find more favor\par\tab Than he that flattereth with the tongue.

And Saul's servants spake those words in the ears of David. And David said, Seemeth it to you a light thing to be the king's son-in-law, seeing that I am a poor man, and lightly esteemed?
