I went by the field of the sluggard,\par\tab And by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread;\par\tab But he that followeth after vain {\i persons} is void of understanding.
According as I have seen, they that plow iniquity,\par\tab And sow trouble, reap the same.
In the lips of him that hath discernment wisdom is found;\par\tab But a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
He that committeth adultery with a woman is void of understanding:\par\tab He doeth it who would destroy his own soul.
I have been young, and now am old;\par\tab Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken,\par\tab Nor his seed begging bread.
I will show thee, hear thou me;\par\tab And that which I have seen I will declare
Lo this, we have searched it, so it is;\par\tab Hear it, and know thou it for thy good.\par
All this have I seen in my days of vanity: there is a righteous man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth {\i his life} in his evil-doing.
The upright shall see it, and be glad;\par\tab And all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
By slothfulness the roof sinketh in; and through idleness of the hands the house leaketh.
The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing;\par\tab But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
