Thine eyes shall behold strange things,\par\tab And thy heart shall utter perverse things.

On the day of our king the princes made themselves sick with the heat of wine; he stretched out his hand with scoffers.

They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.\par

Lest they drink, and forget the law,\par\tab And pervert the justice {\i due} to any that is afflicted.

To deliver thee from the way of evil,\par\tab From the men that speak perverse things;

They that sit in the gate talk of me;\par\tab And {\i I am} the song of the drunkards.

Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea,\par\tab Or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.

Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler;\par\tab And whosoever erreth thereby is not wise.
