The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing;\par\tab But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule;\par\tab But the slothful shall be put under taskwork.

But his lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I did not scatter;

The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit\par\tab Than seven men that can render a reason.

The sluggard burieth his hand in the dish,\par\tab And will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns;\par\tab But the path of the upright is made a highway.

The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting;\par\tab But the precious substance of men {\i is to} the diligent.

The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter;\par\tab Therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.

The sluggard saith, There is a lion in the way;\par\tab A lion is in the streets.

The sluggard saith, There is a lion without;\par\tab I shall be slain in the streets.

And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; make not all the people to toil thither; for they are but few.
