For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?

Better is a little, with righteousness,\par\tab Than great revenues with injustice.

That which maketh a man to be desired is his kindness;\par\tab And a poor man is better than a liar.

A righteous man that walketh in his integrity,\par\tab Blessed are his children after him.

Better is little, with the fear of Jehovah,\par\tab Than great treasure and trouble therewith.

He that walketh in his uprightness feareth Jehovah;\par\tab But he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.

For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue muttereth wickedness.

Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this worthless fellow, even Nabal; for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thy handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.

Now therefore know and consider what thou wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his house: for he is such a worthless fellow, that one cannot speak to him.

Put away from thee a wayward mouth,\par\tab And perverse lips put far from thee.
