The appetite of the laboring man laboreth for him;\par\tab For his mouth urgeth him {\i thereto}.

All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.

In all labor there is profit;\par\tab But the talk of the lips {\i tendeth} only to penury.

If thou art wise, thou art wise for thyself;\par\tab And if thou scoffest, thou alone shalt bear it.\par

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man,\par\tab But the end thereof are the ways of death.

A worthless man deviseth mischief;\par\tab And in his lips there is as a scorching fire.
