A fool's vexation is presently known;\par\tab But a prudent man concealeth shame.

A fool uttereth all his anger;\par\tab But a wise man keepeth it back and stilleth it.

Ye know {\i this}, my beloved brethren. But let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

Hatred stirreth up strifes;\par\tab But love covereth all transgressions.

He that covereth a transgression seeketh love;\par\tab But he that harpeth on a matter separateth chief friends.

He whose spirit is without restraint\par\tab Is {\i like} a city that is broken down and without walls.\par

Understanding is a well-spring of life unto him that hath it;\par\tab But the correction of fools is {\i their} folly.

Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding;\par\tab But {\i that which is} in the inward part of fools is made known.

For vexation killeth the foolish man,\par\tab And jealousy slayeth the silly one.

He that uttereth truth showeth forth righteousness;\par\tab But a false witness, deceit.

A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty;\par\tab But a fool's vexation is heavier than they both.
