But he said, {\cf6 Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.}\par

There is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way;\par\tab {\i And} he that hateth reproof shall die.

And he taught me, and said unto me:\par\tab Let thy heart retain my words;\par\tab Keep my commandments, and live;

They would none of my counsel;\par\tab They despised all my reproof.

And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that {\i the king} said unto him, Have we made thee of the king's counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.\par

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things that were heard, lest haply we drift away {\i from them}.

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the wayfaring man in the street of the city; and the old man said, Whither goest thou? and whence comest thou?

I was well-nigh in all evil\par\tab In the midst of the assembly and congregation.\par

He that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul;\par\tab But he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding.
