The wise in heart will receive commandments;\par\tab But a prating fool shall fall.

He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his life; {\i But} he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow;\par\tab But a prating fool shall fall.

Give {\i instruction} to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser:\par\tab Teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.

And he said unto them, {\cf6 Therefore every scribe who hath been made a disciple to the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.}\par

The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in the field; which a man found, and hid; and in his joy he goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.\par

The good man out of his good treasure bringeth forth good things: and the evil man out of his evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue\par\tab Keepeth his soul from troubles.

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul:\par\tab He that keepeth understanding shall find good.

The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge;\par\tab And the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.

He that separateth himself seeketh {\i his own} desire,\par\tab And rageth against all sound wisdom.

That the wise man may hear, and increase in learning;\par\tab And that the man of understanding may attain unto sound counsels:

A prudent man concealeth knowledge;\par\tab But the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.

He that hath a wayward heart findeth no good;\par\tab And he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
