And when ye pray, ye shall not be as the hypocrites: for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God, be thou merciful to me a sinner.

Evening, and morning, and at noonday, will I complain, and moan;\par\tab And he will hear my voice.

Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God;\par\tab For unto thee do I pray.

Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be made full.\par

And in his teaching he said, {\cf6 Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk in long robes, and {\i to have} salutations in the marketplaces,

Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth laborers into his harvest.}\par

But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye shut the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye enter not in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering in to enter.\par

Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to Jehovah:\par\tab {\i Though} hand {\i join} in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

and love the chief place at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah;\par\tab But the prayer of the upright is his delight.

Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.

{\cf6 {\i But} take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.\par

But all their works they do to be seen of men: for they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders {\i of their garments},

But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
