Then certain of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying, Teacher, we would see a sign from thee.
Seeing that Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek after wisdom:
The Jews therefore answered and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
And others, trying {\i him}, sought of him a sign from heaven.
Jesus therefore said unto him, {\cf6 Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will in no wise believe.}
And when the multitudes were gathering together unto him, he began to say, {\cf6 This generation is an evil generation: it seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of Jonah.
They said therefore unto him, What then doest thou for a sign, that we may see, and believe thee? what workest thou?
For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.}\par
