And there were also women beholding from afar: among whom {\i were} both Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
The Jews therefore, because it was the Preparation, that the bodies should not remain on the cross upon the sabbath (for the day of that sabbath was a high {\i day}), asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken, and {\i that} they might be taken away.
These things therefore the soldiers did. But there were standing by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the {\i wife} of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
And they went out, and fled from the tomb; for trembling and astonishment had come upon them: and they said nothing to any one; for they were afraid.\par
And while he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster cruse of ointment of pure nard very costly; {\i and} she brake the cruse, and poured it over his head.
And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had hewn out for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odors and divers kinds {\i of spices} prepared by the perfumers' art: and they made a very great burning for him.\par
