Then spake Jesus to the multitudes and to his disciples,

and love the chief place at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

And in his teaching he said, {\cf6 Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk in long robes, and {\i to have} salutations in the marketplaces,

they that devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers; these shall receive greater condemnation.}\par
