For the violence done to thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence done to the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown;

And I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling-place of jackals; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.\par

And the glowing sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water: in the habitation of jackals, where they lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

Flee ye, turn back, dwell in the depths, O inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau upon him, the time that I shall visit him.

Therefore hear ye the counsel of Jehovah, that he hath taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely they shall drag them away, {\i even} the little ones of the flock; surely he shall make their habitation desolate over them.

And Hazor shall be a dwelling-place of jackals, a desolation for ever: no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man sojourn therein.\par

The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity:\par\tab He will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will uncover thy sins.\par

Of Edom. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?
