And Pilate gave sentence that what they asked for should be done.
Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to turn aside after a multitude to wrest justice:
Then released he unto them Barabbas; but Jesus he scourged and delivered to be crucified.\par
He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the righteous,\par\tab Both of them alike are an abomination to Jehovah.
And Pilate, wishing to content the multitude, released unto them Barabbas, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.\par
Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
But they were urgent with loud voices, asking that he might be crucified. And their voices prevailed.
And he released him that for insurrection and murder had been cast into prison, whom they asked for; but Jesus he delivered up to their will.\par
