If I be wicked, woe unto me;\par\tab And if I be righteous, yet shall I not lift up my head;\par\tab Being filled with ignominy,\par\tab And looking upon mine affliction.

If thou wouldest seek diligently unto God,\par\tab And make thy supplication to the Almighty;

who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, threatened not; but committed {\i himself} to him that judgeth righteously:

Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he will hear thee;\par\tab And thou shalt pay thy vows.

I will say unto God, Do not condemn me;\par\tab Show me wherefore thou contendest with me.

But as for me, I would seek unto God,\par\tab And unto God would I commit my cause;

And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.

They shall come with weeping; and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by rivers of waters, in a straight way wherein they shall not stumble; for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born.\par

There the upright might reason with him;\par\tab So should I be delivered for ever from my judge.

And he prayed unto him; and he was entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that Jehovah he was God.\par

If I had called, and he had answered me,\par\tab Yet would I not believe that he hearkened unto my voice.

Though I be righteous, mine own mouth shall condemn me:\par\tab Though I be perfect, it shall prove me perverse.

I am perfect; I regard not myself;\par\tab I despise my life.

Once have I spoken, and I will not answer;\par\tab Yea, twice, but I will proceed no further.\par
