Thine arrows are sharp;\par\tab The peoples fall under thee;\par\tab {\i They are} in the heart of the king's enemies.

For thou wilt make them turn their back;\par\tab Thou wilt make ready with thy bowstrings against their face.

And he sent out his arrows, and scattered them;\par\tab Yea, lightnings manifold, and discomfited them.

He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death;\par\tab He maketh his arrows fiery {\i shafts}.

For calamity from God is a terror to me,\par\tab And by reason of his majesty I can do nothing.\par

Let his own eyes see his destruction,\par\tab And let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, And my sword shall devour flesh; With the blood of the slain and the captives, From the head of the leaders of the enemy.

And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara; for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.

He shall suck the poison of asps:\par\tab The viper's tongue shall slay him.

Notwithstanding my right I am {\i accounted} a liar;\par\tab My wound is incurable, {\i though I am} without transgression.

As often as it passeth though, it shall take you; for morning by morning shall it pass through, by day and by night: and it shall be nought but terror to understand the message.

He hath bent his bow like an enemy, he hath stood with his right hand as an adversary,\par\tab And hath slain all that were pleasant to the eye:\par\tab In the tent of the daughter of Zion he hath poured out his wrath like fire.

If I have sinned, what do I unto thee, O thou watcher of men?\par\tab Why hast thou set me as a mark for thee,\par\tab So that I am a burden to myself?

He hath torn me in his wrath, and persecuted me;\par\tab He hath gnashed upon me with his teeth:\par\tab Mine adversary sharpeneth his eyes upon me.

His troops come on together,\par\tab And cast up their way against me,\par\tab And encamp round about my tent.\par

There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine indignation;\par\tab Neither is there any health in my bones because of my sin.

The heart knoweth its own bitterness;\par\tab And a stranger doth not inter-meddle with its joy.

Surely against me he turneth his hand again and again all the day.
