If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great,\par\tab And because my hand had gotten much;

That the triumphing of the wicked is short,\par\tab And the joy of the godless but for a moment?

Hear this, O ye that would swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail,

Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, like the peoples; for thou hast played the harlot, {\i departing} from thy God; thou hast loved hire upon every grain-floor.

The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn; for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

All thine enemies have opened their mouth wide against thee;\par\tab They hiss and gnash the teeth; they say, We have swallowed her up;\par\tab Certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it.

He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on,\par\tab And the innocent shall divide the silver.

Then let me sow, and let another eat;\par\tab Yea, let the produce of my field be rooted out.\par

There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise;\par\tab But a foolish man swalloweth it up.

Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not use the fruit thereof.

The fruit of thy ground, and all thy labors, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway;
