He hath broken me down on every side, and I am gone;\par\tab And my hope hath he plucked up like a tree.

Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven: and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:

Look away from him, that he may rest,\par\tab Till he shall accomplish, as a hireling, his day.

Though the root thereof wax old in the earth,\par\tab And the stock thereof die in the ground;

And if there be yet a tenth in it, it also shall in turn be eaten up: as a terebinth, and as an oak, whose stock remaineth, when they are felled; so the holy seed is the stock thereof.\par

The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was food for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the birds of the heavens dwelt in the branches thereof, and all flesh was fed from it.
