whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For ye are a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as all our fathers were: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no abiding.

My days are like a shadow that declineth;\par\tab And I am withered like grass.

but it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong {\i his} days, {\i which are} as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.\par

The righteous shall flourish like the palm-tree:\par\tab He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

When the wicked spring as the grass,\par\tab And when all the workers of iniquity do flourish;\par\tab It is that they shall be destroyed for ever.

Betwixt morning and evening they are destroyed:\par\tab They perish for ever without any regarding it.

He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine,\par\tab And shall cast off his flower as the olive-tree.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,\par\tab And wither as the green herb.

Behold, thou hast made my days {\i as} handbreadths;\par\tab And my life-time is as nothing before thee:\par\tab Surely every man at his best estate is altogether vanity. {\i Selah

And now, Lord, what wait I for?\par\tab My hope is in thee.

By reason of the voice of my groaning\par\tab My bones cleave to my flesh.

But thou, O Jehovah, wilt abide for ever;\par\tab And thy memorial {\i name} unto all generations.
